Excerpt from Tropic Lightning News_10-12-1970
I came across some archived editions of the Tropic Lightning News, the weekly publication for the 25th Division in Vietnam, while surfing the internet. This weekly tabloid published articles about all kinds of interesting news around the division. Several issues were always delivered to units in the field on every resupply – these newspapers were special treasures, passed around for all to read. It was a way of communicating the happenings within the Division to all the units, where ever they are in country. I was also surprised to come across a short article written about an ambush that I had participated in and wrote about in “Cherries”. I just finish reading Cherries-A Vietnam War Novel and it was great! I was an RTO for 1/327 A Company 3 plt. Some of the stories really hit home. “Above the Rest”

Thank you so much for leaving a response on my blog. I am pleased that you had enjoyed my story and were able to relate to some of my same experiences. I am hearing this from many Vietnam Vets – different times, places and even branches of service – but the experiences are the same in many instances. Welcome home Roger.
